Typhoon Tilly’s Snack Shack

We started off a trip to Walt Disney World with a visit to Typhoon Lagoon. It had been several years since our last visit. We would have preferred to visit Blizzard Beach, but alas it has been closed for refurbishment all summer.

Laura rented an Beach Umbrella because we knew we’d be arriving a couple of hours after opening. It turned out to be a really great idea because the water park was very crowded this particular day, and it would have been quite difficult to find a seats that had any shade. The umbrella gave us a nice secluded spot, away from the hustle-and-bustle of the crowds, and 4 beach towels were included.

A short walk over the lazy river brought us to Typhoon Tilly’s Snack Shack for our first snack of the day – Loaded Nachos and a Piña Colada. Typhoon Tilly’s Snack Shack does not participate in Mobile Ordering, but it’s located right next to Typhoon Tilly’s which does.

Loaded Nachos covered with Guacamole, Sour Cream, Cheese Sauce, Jalapeños, Tomatoes, and Lettuce

Ordinarily these nachos come topped with Walt’s Chili, but you can request without when you order at the counter. This was a delightful snack topped with Guacamole, Sour Cream, Cheese Sauce, Jalapeños, Tomatoes, and Lettuce. The portion was big enough to share, which Laura and I did, and small enough that the chips didn’t get soggy by the time we finished.

The Piña Colada was wonderfully refreshing in the heat of the afternoon. This frozen cocktail uses Bacardi Superior Rum blended with Piña Colada mix. Nothing too adventurous, but a drink like this always marks the start of a relaxing vacation for us.

Typhoon Tilly’s features some frozen desserts, including various Dole Whip flavors. There’s a small selection of cocktails and beer. Around the corner from the counter is one of the park’s Coke Freestyle machines where you can refill your souvenir mug.
